New Zealand’s First Philips Vidiwall LED Digital Video Screen.
Waitakere City will from July 2006 join the growing list of high-profile locations around the world to have a C-nario software platform operating a Philips Vidiwall digital dynamic billboard.
The Auckland Company PopTech Media will launch this State of the Art Electronic Billboard located at Lincoln Road Henderson on July 5th 2006 where the screen will feature Waitakere City events and public information in addition to general advertising.
PopTech Media is the New Zealand based distributor of C-nario software solutions, the international pioneers of digital dynamic messaging systems. Pop Tech Media are also the New Zealand agents for Philips Vidiwall.
C-nario is a leading developer of software and technology for digital dynamic messaging systems and C-nario software solutions is the platform running similar digital dynamic messaging systems that have proved popular at locations around the world, such as the BBC Public Broadcasting Initiative delivering community TV to British high streets.
The 5 x 4 metre Lincoln Road Billboard is one of the state of the art LED screens developed by Philips Vidiwall, a business unit of Philips Electronics.
Since inventing the first video wall in 1984, Philip’s Vidiwall has installed screens in many high-profile locations around the world, particularly over the past 12 months in conjunction with FIFA and the soccer World Cup.
The 22.4 m² LED video incorporates a number of unique Philips patented technologies, including DPMT™ resolution enhancement and ASP™ Anti-Solarisation Processing technology. SmoothPix™ eliminates the differences in brightness and colour between LEDs to provide a perfectly uniform display image.
The screen is also made more commercially viable for long-term usage through Philips Direct Drive™ technology, which ensures that the screen will last for many years even wet, windy and bright conditions without becoming excessively dim or patchy.
The Philips Vidiwall technology is similar to the screens being deployed widely at the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany. These large LED screens have been installed in all 12 host cities to provide giant public viewing opportunities during the four week competition in addition to three Philips LED video screens which have been installed inside stadiums.
The electronic billboards are full colour and have the added advantage of acting as a multiple message provider, where one sign can show a loop of continuous messages and each message can be changed or altered in seconds by transmissions through the internet connected screen. The video or electronic LED billboards, with their high visual impact, transform the conventional billboard into the perfect high-tech electronic outdoor display medium.
On Screen Advertising, the sales agency for the digital billboard, have also highlighted that a major feature of PopTech Media’s program in New Zealand will be their ability to link this screen to a nationwide or regional display-advertising network. Pop Tech’s plans are to progressively have a series of connected digital screens in major cities which will be announced as they come on line.
