"42 Below, Pitango and Sweet Shop were honoured last evening, for their exceptional contribution to New Zealand’s export success, at the city's export awards.
The ANZ Auckland Export Awards, recognising outstanding Auckland business from across the industry spectrum, took place at a sell-out gala dinner at the Hyatt Regency’s Princes Ballroom.
“ This great event, offers opportunities for exporters who have excelled and succeeded in the tough international market in the last twelve months to be recognised and judged by other like business people in the community”, says Ken Penniall, President Export New Zealand, Auckland.
“The number of entrants increased substantially this year and this is a credit to all who have grasped globalisation and endeavoured to increase earnings for New Zealand. Export New Zealand applauds them for their success”.
The Ports of Auckland and Axis Intermodal Auckland Exporter of the Year Award winner is 42 Below Ltd, recognising the company’s remarkable ability and vision to think outside the square with its approach to taking its name, brand and product to the world. From the time of inception to today, the 42 Below brand has stood at the top of its field in the ‘super premium Vodka’ category and to date is the most awarded in the world.
The Mondiale Auckland Service Provider of the Year went to The Sweet Shop New Zealand, which creates world-class advertising material. The judges were impressed with the commitment to New Zealand displayed by the winner of this first time award, acknowledging the strengths of its sound financial policies, planned marketing, well targeted choice of work – all signs of an operation with a strong long term future.
“This year’s winners are clearly leaders in their fields”, says ANZ Head of Trade and Transaction Services, Graham Mills.
“An encouraging outcome of winning an award like this is that businesses get the confidence to set higher goals, which has far-reaching benefits for the business, the economy and New Zealand exports. It’s always a privilege to work with dynamic companies who can visualise their ambitions and the means of achieving them”.
The Air New Zealand Cargo Auckland Emerging Exporter of the Year recognises businesses that have been exporting for less than three years. This year’s winner, Pitango Innovative Cuisine Ltd. has been determined by the uniqueness of its product and the quite amazing rapidity with which this has been accepted in volume in three major international markets.
