U2 Tickets Not Available Through Postshops
New Zealand Post announced today that, in consultation with Ticketmaster and Michael Coppel Presents, it would not be
selling tickets during Monday’s sale for the second and final U2 concert to be held on 18 March 2006.
While the New Zealand public was able to purchase tickets to the initial concert in PostShops throughout the country,
the on-sale date for the second concert falls on one of the busiest days for the New Zealand Post retail network.
Stephen Henry, General Manager of Enterprises at New Zealand Post, said that with Monday being the closing date for all
airmail parcels to Australia and the South Pacific, the network was already bracing itself for one of the heaviest days
of the year.
“Christmas is an extremely busy time for our PostShops. With high demand leading to a second concert and the on-sale
date being announced as Monday, we are simply unable to act as a channel for the U2 tickets.”
Mr Henry said it was through consideration for all parties concerned – customers wanting to get their Christmas parcels
away and those wanting to purchase U2 tickets – that New Zealand Post had made the decision.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause U2 fans, but believe this decision will lead to a less frustrating
experience for them. With our PostShop network already anticipated to be busy, they can concentrate on Ticketmaster’s
other channels of website (www.ticketmaster.co.nz) and phone (0800 111 999), as well as Real Groovy and some selected
Rebel Sports stores to purchase tickets.”
