New Board For Sportsworld Group
Sports retailer and broadcaster Chris Bungard of Matamata has been elected chairman of the national Sportsworld retail group.
Others elected to the board include Taz Dawson, Queenstown; Anthony Coll, Greymouth; Thomas Edge, Gisborne, and Eric Hazelden, Keri Keri.
The board members each have expertise and involvement in different sports activities and product categories ranging from fishing to outdoor adventure and shooting.
Last December Sportsworld became part of the 480-store Auckland-based Composite Retail Group buying and marketing co-operative.
Under CRG’s management the 27-member group restructured marketing and experienced steady growth in business volume – up to 30 percent on the previous year in some regions.
Chris Bungard says since embarking on an expansion programme recently, the group has attracted widespread interest in membership from other independent sports retailers.
He expects to announce the first of a number of new outlets next month.
