Momentum Group launches IE Magazine
A new national magazine to promote and inspire entrepreneurship among New Zealand’s burgeoning small and medium (SME)
business sector launches on Monday 25 July.
IE Magazine (Inspiring Entrepreneurs) will encourage New Zealand business people to succeed and excel says editor, Gez
Johns. “The magazine will focus on and celebrate the achievements of home-grown businesses and provide practical
guidelines for people who are passionate about what they do and want to do it better,” he says.
Regular features will include profiles of local entrepreneurs, including the inside track on how they made it (and
nearly didn’t make it), as well as ideas, insights and tools to innovate and prosper.
Gez Johns says New Zealand entrepreneurs and business people are the most innovative and exciting risk takers anywhere.
“We want to tap into this pool of ingenuity and extract the best examples for everyone to share. There’s so much to be
learnt from the SME business experience in this country, from fragile new start ups to fully fledged multi million
dollar turnover operations. All of us can benefit from the ideas and practices on display.
“And, there’s a huge pool to draw on, bearing in mind that organisations with fewer than 20 staff account for 97
percent of New Zealand businesses. They employ 43 percent of the nation’s work force and produce 39 percent of all goods
and services[1]. It’s about time they had a magazine that is relevant to them,” he says. “Besides, it’s nearly every New
Zealander’s dream to run their own successful business and we want IE to encourage and inspire them to do so.”
IE has already received strong backing from major SME and entrepreneurial players including the New Zealand Venture
Capital Association, Creative HQ and Hi-Growth.
Momentum Group Managing Director David Hows outlines IE’s planned trajectory. “Our goal for IE is to become the leading
monthly business title by the time of our first audit in six months time. We will do this through a combination of
retail sales and subscriptions. Discounted subscriptions are available for business groups and professional bodies
throughout New Zealand.”
IE Magazine is the latest addition to the Momentum Group stable, joining top selling publications Kiwi Property Investor
Magazine, KPI Commercial, and Her Business. Between these titles, Momentum currently publishes three out of the top five
magazines in the business and investment sector in New Zealand.
Gez Johns took over editorship of KPI Magazine two years ago, in which time it has become the top selling monthly
business magazine in New Zealand. Its successful offshoot KPI Commercial was launched recently and is already making its
mark in this specialised market sector.
IE is available from over 700 outlets nationwide, including major bookstores, progressive supermarkets and has been
circulated to some 2,100 CEOs and Managing Directors around New Zealand. IE is also distributed to networks featured in
the magazine such as Creative HQ, Hi-Growth and the New Zealand Venture Capital Association.
