Dairy Farmers Elect New Leader
Frank Brenmuhl is the new chairman of Dairy Farmers of New Zealand, the dairy industry wing of Federated Farmers of New
Zealand (Inc).
Mr Brenmuhl has owned and operated a dairy farm on the West Coast of the South Island since 1984.
In 1996 he moved to Canterbury to develop a walnut orchard and work as a farm consultant.
He has been on the six-person DFNZ executive for five years, including four years as vice chairman.
While on the executive he has been involved in a range of issues including the environment, dairy company structures,
and new rules on hazardous substances.
Mr Brenmuhl replaces Te Awamutu's Kevin Wooding, who stood down after three years as chairman.
"Kevin has had a long commitment to the dairy industry and DFNZ, including an impressive 15 years on the DFNZ executive.
His input and broad experience will be very much missed," Mr Brenmuhl said.
Two new vice presidents were elected at the first day of the two-day DFNZ annual meeting and conference in Wellington.
They are Lachlan McKenzie from Rotorua and Ray Simpson from North Otago.
