DTZ secures world-wide Fonterra contract
DTZ’s Plant and Machinery and Valuation Services teams won the strongly contested bid to provide the Plant and Machinery and Property Valuation work world-wide for one of the worlds leading dairy companies Fonterra.
The valuations are initially required for insurance purposes covering the word-wide manufacturing portfolio of Fonterra which includes 24 manufacturing plants in New Zealand and an additional 35 in other countries. These are mainly in NZ, Australia and Chile with minor operations throughout Asia and Germany. Fonterra’s global chain encompasses shareholder’s farms in New Zealand through to customers and consumers in 140 countries.
‘The outcome was due to a real team effort’ commented Tony Pratt, National Manager Plant and Machinery. ‘Our success is an example of the dedication of the team at DTZ and the extensive knowledge on hand within the group.’
The team will continue to be relatively small with 3-4 property valuers and 6-7 plant valuers undertaking the work. Details of this contract are confidential but it is initially for 2-3 years with a right of renewal for 1-3 years. Initially the work is within NZ, however, later this year and early next year it will extend to Australia, Chile, China, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Germany and possibly Mexico.
Fonterra is the world’s largest exporter of dairy products, exporting 95% of its production. It is also the world’s leader in large-scale milk procurement, collecting and processing over 13 billion litres of milk a year and manufacturing and marketing over 2 million tonnes of dairy products annually. ‘It's great to have such positive news so early in the year, and to be working with one of NZ's leading companies’ said Ross Pickett.
