Harveys Opens Third South Island Office In Temuka
Christchurch, 04 March 2005: - Harveys Real Estate today announced that another South Island office has joined its
network, further increasing the real estate company’s presence in the Mainland.
Pioneer Real Estate in Temuka, previously one of the top performing offices for the First National Group, is the third
branch opened by Harveys in Canterbury during the last four months. The switch to Harveys Temuka will be effective from
4 March.
Harveys Director Ross Barraclough says he is delighted branch owner Vanessa Beirne and the Temuka team decided to join
the Harveys network. “We are very excited about the addition of such a respected and successful branch to our group,” he
says.
“We have been careful to emphasise quality over quantity in our South Island expansion strategy, and the Temuka
branch’s strong customer base and unrivaled regional knowledge means it is a very valuable asset. “Our focus on ‘people
and property’ means that we are very specific about the kind of people we want to have represent us, and with her
emphasis on service to vendors and commitment to her sales team, Vanessa is exactly right person to become a Harveys
business owner.”
A Temuka resident since the age of 9, Vanessa has a long history in real estate, becoming the highest qualified agent
in South Canterbury with a National Diploma in 2001. She has also received a host of national awards, including 10
Chairman’s Awards for Excellence.
She says the move to Harveys was made to nurture the office’s continued growth. “I was looking to step up the business
and take on a fresh, more dynamic approach, and the quality of the administrative and leadership support demonstrated by
Harveys came out tops.
“There are a wide variety of opportunities on offer from the group, which has shown that it is big enough to provide
exceptional resources, but remains committed to each individual office. We are very much looking forward to making the
most of these resources for the benefit of our clients.”

While the office clearly already has a winning formula, Vanessa says clients will see an immediate improvement in
customer service. “As a direct result of our relationship with Harveys, we have new marketing ideas, new systems, and
new approaches that will make the sale process easier for both buyers and sellers. We now have resources our competitors
don’t have and can’t get.”
The South Canterbury property market has enjoyed steady growth over the last two years and Vanessa says she doesn’t see
the region’s progress slowing down. Temuka, Geraldine and the surrounding areas have thrived on attention from
out-of-towners in recent years, particularly from overseas, with visitors from the UK and Australia drawn to the
region’s countless outdoor sporting attractions, including fishing and skiing.
The economic strength of the area is supported by its strong dairy farming tradition and the presence of the world’s
largest dairy product producer, Fonterra.
“South Canterbury is a fantastic area with a huge amount of potential,” says Mr Barraclough. “It will be a region to
