Ford Sponsored Car Seats Donated During 2005 Variety Bash Help Plunket Keep Our Children Safe
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 17 February 2005
As part of Ford's commitment to the children of New Zealand, the Motor Company donates ten car seats to Plunket's Car Seat Rental Scheme which are distributed on the annual Variety Bash.
The car seats, each worth $250, will be donated to Plunket schemes in New Plymouth, Stratford, Wanganui, Taupo and Tauranga.
"Ford vehicles are loaded with equipment such as ABS brakes and airbags – features which are designed to avoid accidents and then help protect occupants in the event of a crash," said Media Relations Manager, Ed Finn.
"However, to help protect the smallest passengers, it's absolutely imperative that new infants and young children benefit from the safety offered by a child car seat. The car seats we are donating to Plunket will ensure that more children in these regions are safe while travelling in a car."
The Plunket Car Seat Rental Scheme which has been in operation for 24 years and has 250 coordinators at 170 locations throughout New Zealand managing the rental of around 23,000 car seats.
"The coordinators welcome these Ford donated car seats which will be available for hire at a minimal cost in their local communities," said Catherine McLaren, National Car Seat Rental Scheme Advisor for Plunket.
"Car seats have a limited life span and schemes rely on both fundraising and donations, such as these, to help them update and increase their stock to keep our children safe," she added.
