How To Help Flooded Farmers
Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc) has been contacted by members and others wanting to help flood-affected farmers in the Bay of Plenty region. Farmers and others wanting to offer to help can ring 0800 FFLOOD (0800 335 663) or email flooding@fedfarm.org.nz Offers of help from dairy farmers to accommodate in-calf and calved milking cows are requested. Grazing for drystock, especially for yearlings, is also required.
There is a need for offers of labour to help with calving, fencing, and general clearing especially in the days after flood levels have fallen. Machinery such as large capacity water pumps and electricity generators are also required. Other items needed include dog food, gas bottles, and lanterns.
We will do our best to channel your offers to the people most in need.
