New Province Welcomed
Federated Farmers of New Zealand (FFNZ) President Tom Lambie today opened the federation's annual conference with a
special welcome to the president of the newly created province of FFNZ in Northland
Whangarei farmer Denis Anderson is representing the region on behalf of his executive and other FFNZ members.
Mr Anderson was appointed president in April at an inaugural annual meeting of the as-yet unnamed province.
"It's very pleasing to welcome Denis on behalf of other FFNZ members in Northland," Mr Lambie said.
"It's good to have Northland farmers represented within the national organisation as a standalone province, just as they
should be. It's been four years since we have had their representation and it has been sorely missed.
"Northland members can now fully participate at a regional level in the important work that FFNZ is doing right across
New Zealand."
Other elected Northland board members are Michael Hayes (Vice President), Howard Dixon (Meat and Fibre Producers'
representative), Selwyn Driver (Far North representative); Grant Kokich (Whangarei representative), and Barry Barfoote
(Kaipara representative).
FFNZ, which has about 18,000 members in 24 provinces including Northland, is holding its annual conference on Tuesday
and Wednesday in Christchurch.
