Freedom Air Confirms Flights To Fiji
Freedom Air, New Zealand’s very own no-frills airline, today confirmed that it will begin flights from Hamilton to Nadi, Fiji from April 2004.
Further details of the new service are still in the planning process, and the launch date is subject to government approval. It is anticipated that sales will be available for bookings from early February 2004.
Michael Young, Freedom Air’s acting General Manager, says the Nadi service represents the first of a number of possible new routes for the no-frills airline. “We have been working on new route opportunities for the past eight months and believe Fiji has a lot of potential for us, he says. “We will continue to evaluate other possible new routes as part of our commitment to providing New Zealanders the opportunity to travel to more exciting destinations more often.”
This is not the first time the airline has flown to Fiji. Freedom Air previously flew from Palmerston North to Fiji between March and July 2000, but withdrew this service due to political instability at the time. Young says the Palmerston North to Fiji route is one of the other new routes being considered, however says it is too early to comment any further.
Freedom Air currently flies Trans Tasman from Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Freedom Air started operating as a Trans Tasman carrier in November 1995, offering value-based services. Over the years, it has refined its no-frills service to continually pass savings on to customers.
