Silver Secateurs Winners Announced
The national finals of the Silver Secateurs Grape Vine Pruning Competition were held at Te Kairanga Wines, Martinborough on Saturday 30th August.
Promoted by New Zealand Winegrowers, the competition is to recognize the importance of quality and expertise in pruning to the grape growing industry.
The competition includes three events, Individual Pruning, Individual Tying, and a Teams event. Competing at national finals were the winners of regional competitions from New Zealand’s grape growing regions.
The Champion Individual Prunner was Tere Poa from Marlborough. He wins a trip to France as the major prize.
The Individual Tying competition was won by Varunee Cameron also from Marlborough, while the winner of the Teams event was the Pauls Brothers Contracting Team from Hawkes Bay.
