Malaysia Seeking More Kiwi Visitors!
Malaysia is letting New Zealanders know it is a premier tourist destination with a week-long sales mission headed by
Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism, YB Dato’ Fu Ah Kiow.
Dato’ Fu started his sales mission in Auckland yesterday (21st August) with a major presentation and dinner at the
Heritage Hotel for representatives from the NZ travel industry. Presentations will also be held in Wellington (25th
August) and Christchurch (26th August).
He is accompanied by a cultural troupe of 20 Malaysian dancers who will perform at official functions and Westfield
Shopping Centres.
Dato’ Fu also announced that Tourism Malaysia would be setting up a Marketing Representative Office in Auckland in the
very near future to promote Malaysia more aggressively.
“We will also be embarking on a tactical advertising campaign to create greater awareness of our country and its many
attractions and to encourage more Kiwis to make Malaysia their choice of holiday destination.
“Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines and many other Malaysian tourist-related organisations will make joint efforts to
promote Malaysia more effectively in New Zealand,” he added.
Dato’ Fu said over the years Malaysia has successfully maintained its reputation as the premier quality and
value-for-money tourist destination in the ASEAN region.
“Major cities within the country are well connected by an excellent infrastructure, with hotel rates, food and beverages
amongst the cheapest in the region.”
“As a country with diversified cultures and different races, delectable cuisine and breathtaking sights and wonders,
Malaysia is definitely an attractive and fascinating place to visit.”
Dato’ Fu said Malaysians are hospitable and friendly people. To date, Malaysia has been virtually free of any incidents
of violence making it a very safe place to visit.
He expressed confidence that tourist arrivals from New Zealand would increase tremendously in the future.
