Dairy Farmers Reinforce Commitment to Positive Environmental Stewardship
Dairy farmers have again voiced their commitment to positive environmental stewardship.
At the Dairy Farmers of New Zealand (DFNZ) conference in Wellington yesterday, Council members passed a remit that DFNZ continue to promote positive environmental management and sustainable farming practices, says DFNZ Chair Kevin Wooding.
"DFNZ and Federated Farmers actively participates and takes a leadership role in a wide range of environmental initiatives and all aspects of district and regional plans.
"DFNZ supports good on-farm environmental practices, initiatives that are cost effective and outcomes based, and that reflect individual farm situations.
"DFNZ does not support reckless polluters that damage the environment and the dairy industry's reputation.
"DFNZ believes that these philosophies are best achieved through the regionally based, outcome focused Resource Management Act."
