Farmers welcome ongoing commitment to Landcare Trust
Hon Marian Hobbs and Hon Jim Sutton must be congratulated for their ongoing support of the Landcare Trust says Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc) Vice President Charlie Pedersen.
The Minister for the Environment has confirmed that the New Zealand Landcare Trust will receive $1.8 million in funding over the next four years as part of this year's Budget Package.
"Federated Farmers has continued to lobby Government to ensure ongoing support for the Trust, said Mr Pedersen.
"The Landcare Trust promotes 'Sustainable land management through community involvement' a concept, which has wide appeal to farmers as landowners and custodians of the land for future generations. "The Trust's success rests on the recognition that rural and land-based businesses need to be profitable, but they also need to be sustainable.
"Federated Farmers is proud to work with the Federation of Maori Authorities, Forest and Bird Society, Fish and Game NZ, Federated Mountain Clubs, Rural Women NZ and the Ecologic Foundation as Trustees of the Landcare Trust."
