Telecom Pops Tickets Now On Sale
No matter what your musical preference - opera, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll or a dash of soul - the Telecom Pops concerts will undoubtedly cater to it.
This year’s Telecom Pops consists of six concerts performed by the Auckland Philharmonia with special guests of the calibre of Manhattan Transfer, Randy Crawford, Dame Malvina Major, Rima Te Wiata and Joel Toelbeck.
Telecom Corporate Positioning Manager Maria Robertson said Telecom has established a strong connection with the Auckland Philharmonia through identifying ways to improve communicating its sponsorship of the Telecom Pops series in 2002 and 2003 and its sponsorship of the Telecom Symphony of Sails CD released late last year.
Ms Robertson said it was thrilling to work with an organisation that has a balanced focus on business and art.
“The Auckland Philharmonia is a co-operative. Each of its musicians is a part-owner. So while they're rehearsing and performing, they've also got a vested interest in finding new ways to run their business as efficiently as possible.
"So Telecom and Auckland Philharmonia work together behind the scenes to develop seamless internal and external communications,” she said.
“We have upgraded the orchestra's telephone system and introduced voice mail and dedicated phone lines so concert-goers can get through even if the switchboard is busy,” said Ms Robertson.
Auckland Philharmonia's General Manager Anne Rodda said this year's Telecom Pops line-up of artists was extraordinary and she couldn't imagine anyone wanting to miss out on any of the concerts.
"Telecom has really made a difference for us; they have helped make our office run even more smoothly. It is great not having to worry about communication systems when we’d rather concentrate on giving the best performance on stage.
"And with the likes of The Manhattan Transfer and Randy Crawford in our new Telecom Pops series, that is exactly what we are looking forward to doing!” she said.
