New Zealand Bee Industry Group Chair Announced
Waipawa beekeeper Milton Jackson has been elected Chair of the New Zealand Bee Industry Group (NZBIG).
As the inaugural Chair of NZBIG, Mr Jackson has been charged with putting in place a structure that is representative of all beekeeper members, and ensuring that a business plan and set of rules are developed.
A former National Beekeepers Association member and Hawkes Bay president, Mr. Jackson chose to join Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc) when the compulsory beekeepers commodity levy expired last year. Federated Farmers has established the NZBIG to reflect the interests of a significant numbers of new beekeeper members.
"We are excited about the possibilities for representation as many beekeepers link up with Federated Farmers. By joining the Federation beekeeper's benefit from professional administration, people who have expertise, know what they are doing and how to get the best results, says Mr Jackson.
Mr Jackson wants to encourage dialogue between arable and pastoral farmers and beekeepers, so there is a better understanding between the various sectors that make up NZ agriculture.
Mr Jackson can be contacted on PH 06 857-8509 or 025 6471347. NZBIG Industry Executive Officer Tim Leslie can be contacted on 04 473 7269 or 021 544 070.
