High Country Affirm Sound Animal Welfare Practices
The South Island High Country Committee of Federated Farmers New Zealand today re-affirmed its commitment to uphold the principles of good animal management and welfare practices.
"Federated Farmers strongly promotes good animal welfare practices by all stock farmers," said SIHCC Chairman John Davis.
"In farming a healthy well-fed animal is a profitable animal.
"In the exceptional case where there is blatant abuse of animal welfare, we would fully support any action MAF Animal Welfare officers may see fit to take."
The SIHCC, meeting in Timaru today, passed a resolution supporting MAF's handling of a recent animal welfare action in Otago.
