Feds Membership Booming in North Canterbury
The strong growth in Federated Farmer's financial membership in North Canterbury reflects the value of a collective
approach to fighting issues that impact on the business of farmers, says North Canterbury Federated Farmer's President
Pam Richardson.
"Last year's membership total has been surpassed with four months of the year to run, said Mrs Richardson.
"For the first time since the organisation was restructured in 1998 membership of the North Canterbury Province of
Federated Farmers has exceeded 1,500.
"The number of issues that the province is working on grows by the day and includes significant challenges such as
E-Can's Natural Resources Plan.
"This trend has been repeated throughout the country and reflects the value farming families' place on the exclusive
range of industry specific membership services the Federation offers.
"The challenge ahead of the Federation is to attract more young people into the ranks. North Canterbury Federated
Farmers is looking forward to building the relationship with New Zealand Young farmers who have recently become an
industry group of the Federation.
"This is a wonderful result for a voluntary organisation and reinforces the excellent work Federated Farmer's elected
members and staff are doing."
