Gas Supply Disruption 11.30am

Published: Tue 26 Feb 2002 01:42 PM
Following continued good progress with repairs to the damaged 8-inch high pressure gas pipeline near Himatangi, Natural Gas Corporation (NGC) now expects full gas supplies to the lower North Island to resume about 2.00pm today.
The replacement section of pipe has been welded into place and x-rayed, and the pipes are being purged in preparation for a controlled repressurisation of the lower North Island system.
Larger customers who have halted gas use are advised to await formal notification from their retailer before resuming gas uptake and, until full services are restored, domestic customers and essential services should continue to avoid unnecessary use.
