Airport price control submissions posted on Commerce Commission website
The 16 submissions received by the Commerce Commission on its draft report of the price control study of Auckland,
Wellington and Christchurch International Airports have been posted onto the Commission's website.
As anticipated, submissions were received by the August 14 deadline from all three international airports and also from
the Board of Airline Representatives of New Zealand. Other submissions received included from the Ministry of Transport,
Business New Zealand, Auckland Regional Council, Auckland City Council, Christchurch City Council and a number of
companies involved in the electricity and shipping industries.
The Commission will consider accepting late submissions after the August 14 deadline, should it receive any. However,
the Commission will have less opportunity to test, and other parties will have less time to comment on, any new
submissions received after this week's deadline. The Commission would have to consider how much weight it is able to
give to any such submissions.
The Commission's Business Competitions Branch Director Geoff Thorn said the next key date was August 31, which is the
deadline for interested parties and independent experts to make cross submissions.
The timetable as follows: By August 31 Interested parties and independent experts make cross submissions.
September 4-7, 10 and 12-14 Conference where interested parties can provide further information and the Commission
will ask questions. The media and public can attend. November Commission aims to report to Minister of
Commerce.
