CTU backs Sky City workers
“Sky City Casino workers deserve a better offer from their wealthy employer,” said Council of Trade Unions secretary, Paul Goulter today.
Paul Goulter said the CTU strongly supports Sky City members of the Service and Food Workers Union who are to protest outside the casino this evening.
“I had the opportunity to meet Sky City workers a couple of days ago,” he said.
“The 2.5% pay increase on offer is particularly inadequate considering the company is expected to announce a huge profit in a just a few weeks.
“It is also disappointing that a company as successful as Sky City has stooped to trying to buy support for individual contracts with $200 cash payments.”
Paul Goulter said many of tonight’s visitors to the casino would be members of unions.
“I am sure their sympathies and support will be with the Sky City workers protesting,” he said.
