Bridge Communications Takes Telecom Excellence Award
Telecom has named Bridge Communications as its Service Company of the Year.
The new award recognises excellence among the six service companies contracted to design, build and maintain Telecom's network across the country.
Bridge Communications serves Telecom customers in three regions - Auckland's North Shore, Wellington's Hutt Valley and Christchurch City.
"We've instituted this award to recognise the effort our service companies put into delivering a superior service to our customers," says Telecom's Manager of Work Management, Peter Cowper.
"There's been a 50 per cent reduction in the time the standard telephone network is affected by faults this year, and major outages are also down by 50%," he says.
"This year, Bridge Communications stood out for their innovation, their customer focus, and just for being easy to do business with," he says.
"Bridge think of themselves as the face of Telecom, are expert at monitoring their own performance, and know how to keep things simple. They get on with the job in hand and ask questions later.
"A prime example is the way Bridge reacted when the Hutt Valley's Belmont exchange caught fire earlier this year. Nothing was a problem as they pulled out all the stops to restore service to customers.
"We value the work of all our six service companies put into delivering an increasingly efficient service, and the talent and dedication of the more than 2,000 people who work for them," Mr Cowper says.
The Telecom Service Company of the Year Award itself is a work of art - a tradesperson's tool pouch carved out of wood by Telecom network specialist Mike Sheely, complete with removable tools with moving parts.
"We don't have the heart to make them give it back at the end of the year, so we'll just have to create a new one next year," he says.
