Auckland – Tuesday 15 August, 2000 – New Zealand’s largest online marketing solutions company, Brave New World, has
strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Paul Hashfield as Media Director. The new role will see
Paul assume responsibility for integrating clients’ online strategy with their traditional offline strategy and
investigating new digital marketing opportunities.
Launched last month, Brave New World delivers end-to-end “campaigns of one” via the web and other digital media.
“Successfully targeted online campaigns have been the key to driving Brave New World’s rapid growth so far,” says CEO
Frank van der Velden. “Paul’s appointment is in response to the growth of our capabilities and means we can assist our
clients to properly co-ordinate both traditional and digital marketing tools and develop successful long term one-to-one
relationships with their customers.”
According to Paul, increasingly clients are looking to invest in strategic online campaigns as a means of creating
direct relationships with their target audience. “With the Brave New World partnership consisting of Dave Clark Design
Associates and online specialists WebMasters Network Limited, the company really sets itself apart from other media
companies, in that it provides the full gamut of creative online solutions, from online strategy to robust and reliable
advertising campaign measurement.”
Paul’s recent projects include working with blue-chip clients ASB Bank, Southern Cross, Ford, Glaxo Wellcome and most
recently, Quicken, a financial portal launched just last month.
Prior to becoming a shareholder in the Brave New World partnership, Paul helped establish WebMasters Network in 1998.
His principle responsibility, was to provide strategic expertise on managing new media customer relationships for
long-term profit.
Prior to that, Paul worked for Telecom managing the start up of the media sales operation of New Zealand’s leading
online portal, XTRA. Since then he has helped many New Zealand companies and organisations achieve success with their
online marketing efforts.
Paul has gained much of his knowledge and experience through senior roles with leading media owners and research
companies in both the Asian and UK markets. Between 1993 and 1997, Paul managed the turnaround of a UK commercial radio
station (Lantern FM). Prior to this, Paul worked for two years with AC Nielsen in Asia, planning and launching the first
ever syndicated radio research project for Hong Kong.
He has also held the position of Sales Manager for Wellington’s ZMFM and Manager of New Zealand Radio Sales, now The
Radio Bureau.
