CLEAR and Unisys plan IT services partnership
CLEAR Communications today announced it is exploring outsourcing some of its corporate IT services through global electronic business solutions company Unisys.
The potential outsourcing agreement covers areas such as computer operations, technical support, LAN/WAN administration and support, and operations management. It excludes the operation of CLEAR’s ISP CLEAR Net, and the development and marketing of CLEAR’s other online products and services.
IT Director Graham Walmsley says CLEAR has chosen Unisys as its preferred supplier in examining the future delivery of its corporate IT functions. The two companies are about to enter advanced negotiations, expected to take up to three months.
Mr Walmsley says the next phase will include contract negotiations, service transition planning, service level agreements and staff transition planning. While it is too early to know how CLEAR IT services staff will be affected by the change, it is expected that there will be few, if any, redundancies.
“The contracts have not been signed and sealed – we’re just entering the next phase. But we’re very pleased with our choice in partner of Unisys. Their global expertise, experience and capability in delivering IT services will create new opportunities for CLEAR to operate more effectively,” says Mr Walmsley.
Unisys Outsourcing Manager Marcel van den Assum says Unisys is proud to have been selected by CLEAR as its IT partner. “We look forward to working closely with CLEAR on defining the scope and expectations of this project. And ultimately, its success will be measured by its contribution to CLEAR’s business objectives.”
