Telecom Workers Given Two Choices - Hundreds of Telecom computer workers are under threat to sign contracts with a new
employer which will end their rights to redundancy payouts. Around 600 workers have been given less than a week to sign
new contracts with EDS a multi-national company, which will manage part of Telecom’s information system. A Telecom
spokesperson says workers have a choice of accepting the deal or taking redundancy.

Maori for only distributing fisheries assets to traditional iwi. The issue has been the subject of a Court of Appeal
case, but the court reserved its decision. Willie Jackson of the Manukau Urban Maori Authority says the problems lie
with the Fisheries Commission’s chairman Sir Tipene O’Regan. Mr Jackson says the members of the three urban Maori
authorities want Mr O’Regan to leave his position so change of thinking can be achieved.
Airport Share Sale Put on Hold - It’s a moratorium of sorts for the sale of Auckland City’s Airport shares. Auckland
City Council decided last night not to consider a possible sale of its Auckland International Airport shares until after
the release of its strategic plan in mid 2000.
