REMINDER
Dog owners
Make sure you register your dogs by July 31 and, as well as receiving a $15 discount, you could win a mystery holiday
for two to Australia! Please be aware that late registrations could result in a $200 fine. Every dog over the age of
three months must be registered every year. In processing registrations, we are legally required to ask owners to state
their age. This is necessary for security reasons, to distinguish between residents who share the same name and
initials.
PROJECT UPDATE
Wharf and boat ramp upgrading programme
With spring just around the corner, many wharf and boat ramp developments can be seen around the city - great news for
boaties and beach users. We’ve recently finished widening the Browns Bay beach access and installed new hand-railing at
Murrays Bay. We’re also busy building the Hinemoa (Birkenhead) boat ramp. Upcoming projects (all to be completed in
August) include stage two of the Torpedo Bay boat ramp upgrade, extending the Takapuna boat ramp, building a small boat
ramp and groyne at Milford, and lengthening Waiake Beach boat ramp.
Fire-fighters get a boost
We‘re spending more than $1 million over the coming year on water supply improvements and hydrant maintenance to boost
the city’s fire-fighting capability. Larger watermains will be installed in Takapuna and Milford to meet fire-fighting
requirements, and improvements will be made to water flows in the elevated areas of the city, including Glenvar,
Pinehill and Birkenhead.
Project FaB
Plans to set up our Project FaB (Ferries and Buses) public transport forum are progressing well. A newsletter aimed at
getting feedback on the idea will go out in September to interested local groups, residents and businesses. The aim of
the new forum is to create an opportunity for community input into the public transport planning process for the city.
It will bring together representatives of local ferry and bus service operators and the Auckland Regional Council with
public transport users and community and business organisations. The forum's first open meeting will be held in October
when a range of issues will be up for discussion. If you would like to go on the forum's information mailing list

WHAT’S HAPPENING
Drop-in meetings now on
We're currently hosting drop-in meetings for coastal landowners around the city as part of our consultation on options
for changing the District Plan rules for coastal properties. There are four more meetings before the end of the month.
An information pamphlet outlining the new proposals is now available from area offices and information is also on our
website (www.nscc.govt.nz). After the drop-ins we will arrange meetings with special interest groups and the general
