Published: Wed 15 May 2019 05:11 PM
Police are seeking witnesses following a serious assault in Wairoa in the early hours of Sunday 12 May.
A 27-year-old man presented himself at Wairoa Hospital after receiving stab wounds outside a residential address on Lion Street shortly before 1am.
The man is recovering at Hawke’s Bay Hospital.
"We want to hear from anyone who was at that address or in that area of Wairoa early Sunday morning," says Detective Sergeant Kevin Ford.
Police would like to reassure the community that this is an isolated incident and there will be a larger Police presence in the area.
We also encourage anyone who notices suspicious behaviour, or has information that may assist this investigation to call Wairoa Police on 06-838 8345 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
