Body Recovered from Whanganui River

"Missing person – Whanganui River"
Police have today recovered the body of a man from the Whanganui River.
Police received a report about 7pm last night of a man in distress in the river.
Police, Coastguard, Surf Lifesavers and a Westpac rescue helicopter were all deployed, however the man was not able to be found last night.
The Police Dive Squad resumed the search at 10.30am this morning.
The man’s body was located about 12.45pm.
The death will be referred to the Coroner.
