Water restrictions in Tairua, Pauanui and Whangamata

Water restrictions in Tairua, Pauanui and Whangamata effective immediately
Water restrictions are now in place in for Tairua, Pauanui and Whangamata.
In all three areas we are seeing higher than normal water use for this time of year.
In Tairua and Pauanui the river levels are getting lower and in Whangamata ground water levels are also lowering. Both are due to the extended dry period we are having.
This means there is now a ban on irrigation and sprinkler use in these areas.
We're checking water use in our nine urban and two rural water supply schemes regularly and reviewing our water restrictions daily.
We’re surrounded by water on the Coromandel. It’s easy to think of it as a free resource that will never run out. This summer we are expecting a hot, dry weather and the population in some of our communities multiplies 10-fold in summer.
Please be water smart. If everyone is careful with their use of water, it will lessen the need for more stringent restrictions through the busy holiday period and we can delay costly new infrastructure.
There are other good reasons to be smart about your water use. See www.tcdc.govt.nz/water for more information and water conservation tips.
Check for updates on our homepage, Facebook page, email newsletters and on Coromandel's More FM.
Please report any water leaks or wastage to our 24/7 Customer Services line: 07 868 0200.
