Arrest made in relation to indecent assault in Napier
Police have arrested a male in relation to an incident in Taradale, Napier on Sunday evening.
At about 5.45pm a woman was walking along Avondale Road when she was approached by an elderly male.
The male offered her fruit and hugged her.
He then assaulted the victim and walked off.
The victim was left shaken by the experience.
Police are currently providing support for the victim.
Police arrested an 83-year-old man in relation to the assault and he is due to appear in the Napier District Court on Wednesday 27 September charged with indecent assault.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have been approached by an elderly Indian man in the Taradale area recently.
