Dive Squad unable to search for missing fisherman, Haast
Please attribute to Detective Constable Jayne Bretherton:
Unfortunately due to weather conditions, the Police Dive Squad is unable to be deployed today in the search for fisherman Kieran Lynch, who has been missing since the Wendy J sank on Thursday September 14th.
It is hoped that weather conditions will improve and allow them to get back in the water but at this stage, the forecast indicates this is unlikely to be before next week.
This morning Police have formally identified the body, which was found on Tuesday afternoon, as Jay Cairney, 43, of Greymouth.
Police are continuing to provide support to the families affected by this awful tragedy.
We are hopeful we can find Mr Lynch and return him to his family.
