Waitemata Police investigating aggravated robbery in Helensville

Waitemata Police need your help to identify two males who carried out a violent aggravated robbery on Sunday morning (27
August) at the Kaipara Tavern in Helensville.

The two offenders arrived at the tavern on Commercial Road in a stolen Silver Subaru station wagon at approximately
11.30am.
At gunpoint, they have forced the sole staff member to open and empty both the cash register and the safe before they
fled the scene with the cash.
The stolen vehicle was found a short time later, abandoned on Rimmer Road.
Detective Senior Sergeant Andy Murdoch of Waitemata Police says the offenders faces are clearly visible in the CCTV
footage and someone out there will know who they are.
“This was a really terrifying experience for the staff attendant, and he has been completely traumatised by what has
happened.
It is only a matter of time before Police identify both offenders, so we are asking them to do the right thing and to
hand themselves in.”
“Police across Auckland are focused on preventing aggravated robberies, and to catching those who think it’s okay to go
into somebody’s place of business, threaten, and at times assault staff members and take off with items such as cash and
cigarettes.
The impact that these crimes have on victims are really serious and it has to stop,” says Detective Senior Sergeant
Murdoch.
“We also ask friends and families of the offenders who will recognise them from this clear CCTV footage to call Police
so we can sort this out.”
Police enquiries are continuing today, we are still in the process of reviewing CCTV footage and a forensic examination
is underway of the recovered stolen vehicle.
