Fire extinguished at Wakari Hospital’s Ward 9A
Staff contained and extinguished a small fire in a room at Ward 9A at the Wakari Hospital site at approximately 10am this morning.
As is procedure, St John and the fire department were called. Three members of staff were taken to Dunedin Hospital ED as a precaution to be checked for smoke inhalation. No patients required treatment.
Damage is being assessed but is thought to be minimal.
The cause of the fire is being investigated. More information will be released when available.
