PM opens impressive PwC Centre in Christchurch
9 December 2016 - Prime Minister John Key has officially opened Christchurch’s newest large scale central city office building.
The five storey, 11,000 square metre PwC Centre occupies a pivotal gateway position in the city and is defined by the
banks of the Avon River and its relationship with the Bridge of Remembrance.
Prime Minister John Key opened the building by unveiling a plaque this afternoon alongside the Minister supporting
Greater Christchurch Regeneration Gerry Brownlee, and enjoyed a tour of the centre’s impressive facilities.
The building is Bridgewater Properties Ltd’s latest project and houses nine corporate tenants as well as one food and
beverage provider.
Bridgewater Properties Ltd Director Ben Harrow says that the PwC Centre is built to 130 per cent of the current building
code (IL3.)
“The building comprises a structural steel frame with an eye-catching façade providing truly “A” grade office
accommodation.
“High ceilings give a feeling of space while providing excellent natural light during the day. This connects those who
work in The PwC Centre with the city and provides opportunities for high calibre entertaining and presentation areas.”
Constructed by Armitage Williams Construction, the building is located at 60 Cashel Street, West End at the corner of
Cambridge Tce and is designed by internationally renowned and local architecture practice Warren and Mahoney, whose team
drew inspiration from Te Papa Otakaro (the Avon River Precinct) and its surrounding trees to develop an innovative,
lightweight, and striking building.
