Santa’s Wonderland delights the kids in Hastings
Santa’s Wonderland is on track to smash the record set last year of 9000 children visiting the big man. From November 28th until Christmas Eve the centre of Hastings has become home to the Santa’s Wonderland – a Christmas extravaganza to delight the children of Hastings.
Hastings City Business Association have once again put together this festive paradise promising to enchant young and old. Santa will be on hand each day to gather present lists, enlighten some eager children with stories from the North Pole and have a much coveted photo taken.
The wonderland is decked out, courtesy of our local Bay City Rollers, and transformed into a fantasy world brimming with Christmas trees, twinkling lights and decorations, elfs workshop and play kitchen, and of course Santa on his throne.
This free display is open from Monday to Friday 10-4 and Saturday 10-2pm in the old Paganis building next door to BJ’s Bakery in the Heretaunga Street Mall. Susan McDade General Manager of the HCBA says “It is wonderful to see so many children coming to see Santa and watch those young eyes widen with delight.” Kindies, play centres and even entire classes from St Matthews school have visited Santa and have entertained him with stories and songs. The Hastings Foodbank Trust has a collection bin on site for any non-perishable food items that families wish to donate or gold coin donations are very welcome, to help those less fortunate this holiday season.
