Closures ahead for Dominion Road exit on Southwestern Motorway
The southbound exit at the Dominion Road interchange on Auckland’s Southwestern Motorway (State Highway 20) will be closed for two weekends later this month as part of work to build another lane.
The southbound exit lane will be totally shut from midday on Friday 9 December until 5am on Monday 12 December, and during the same times the following weekend, 16-19 December.
The closures affect only the southbound exit, and all other on and off ramps at Dominion Road will remain open.
Drivers most affected by the closures are those joining the start of Southwestern Motorway at Maioro Street who exit two kilometres further south at Dominion Road. The detour route is along Stoddard Road to Dominion Road.
The closures are part of work to widen the motorway southbound between Maioro Street and Hillsborough Road and provide an extra lane for drivers when the Waterview tunnel opens next year.
Work on the exit-lane includes widening, repaving the surface and new line markings.
There may be another weekend closure at Dominion Road in January if further work is needed.
