"Police arrest Wairarapa Head Hunters on meth charges"
Wairarapa Police and the National Organised Crime Group have arrested three people linked to the Head Hunters gang on
methamphetamine charges.
Two local men aged 29 and 25 were yesterday charged with offences relating to the sale and distribution of
methamphetamine, and today a 24-year-old man was arrested on the same charges.
All three have been remanded in custody and will reappear in the Masterton District Court on Monday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nick Pritchard of the National Organised Crime Group said the investigation, known as
Operation Frozen, had exposed a distribution network involving the Head Hunters gang, which extended beyond the
Wairarapa.
“The investigation is ongoing and while I cannot provide additional detail at this stage, there may be further arrests
in coming days.”
Wairarapa Detective Senior Sergeant Barry Bysouth said local Police were dedicated to clearing methamphetamine dealing
out of their community.
“I’d like to encourage anyone who is either struggling with methamphetamine themselves, or who knows someone who is to
seek help.
You can approach Police direct, or make contact with Te Hauora Runanga O Wairarapa, or Pathways Wairarapa.
For anonymous help, you can call the alcohol and drug helpline on 0800 787 797.”
