"Three arrested following alleged aggravated robbery in Takapuna, North Shore"
Some excellent work by police and members of the public on the North Shore today has led to the arrest of three men following an alleged aggravated robbery at a jewellers in Takapuna.
Police were called to the store at around 3pm today after two men entered the shop armed with weapons, taking off with jewellery and cash.
The offenders had already left the scene in a stolen Subaru which Police located a short while later, abandoned at Sylvan Park Reserve.
A member of the public has then approached police staff and described witnessing three males allegedly ditching the vehicle and getting into another car.
They have provided a very good description of the vehicle the offenders were in and shortly after it has been stopped by police in Hobson Street.
Three men aged; 22, 23, and 24 have been arrested and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
They will face a number of charges and are expected to appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow.
Police have also recovered the stolen jewellery.
Detective Sergeant Steve Brewer says this was excellent work by both police and the public.
“We really appreciate all our community on the North Shore and across New Zealand does to help keep our community safe.
This was a great outcome and I hope the quick arrests will provide the victims with some degree of comfort.”
