Car-free Day take the bus and be into win
20 September 2016
Bay of Plenty Regional Council (BOPRC) is urging morning commuters to take the bus on Thursday (Sept 22) in support of World Car-Free Day.
BOPRC staff will be rewarding those who use the bus on this day with treats between 7.30am and 9.00am and one lucky person will win an Apple IPad Air.
The Regional Council’s transport policy manager, Garry Maloney says it’s a great chance for people to try public transport buses while doing their bit to help the environment.
Mr Maloney says using alternate transport such as public buses have other benefits including reducing congestion, stress and improving health and wellbeing.
“While commuting on the bus you can use your mobile device or just take time out.”
Regional Council staff will be handing out treats and taking names for the IPad Air draw between 7.30am and 9.00am. The winner of the IPad draw will be advised the next day, on Friday 23 September.
Staff will be at the following stops:
• Willow St, Tauranga
• Arawa St, Rotorua
• Quay St, Whakatane.
