Lights, Camera, Action! It’s a Merry Movie Christmas in Upper Hutt
Get your thinking caps on and let your creative juices flow, because the theme for the ever-popular Upper Hutt 2016 Santa Parade is ‘A Merry Movie Christmas’ and it’s time to start planning your float!
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 23 AUG 2016— Crowds of over 5,000 flocked to Main Street last year to enjoy the much-loved Upper Hutt Santa Parade. Mark your diaries and set the committee planning, as this year the parade will be filled with movie magic and take place on Sunday 4 December, commencing at 3.00 pm.
An invitation is extended to all businesses and community groups operating in Upper Hutt to join this community event and enter a ‘Merry Movie Christmas’ float in the Santa Parade. Your float could be themed as a classic Christmas film, or a modern interpretation of how a non-Christmas movie might celebrate the occasion—the opportunities are endless!
There is a $1,000 prize for the float that best reflects the theme of a Merry Movie Christmas, and a $250 prize for People’s Choice Award, voted for on social media in the week following the parade.
Now is the time to brainstorm your best Merry Movie Christmas float idea and put it to your school, club or boss! Further details and online registrations will be available on the Upper Hutt City Council website in early October.
This year we will once again be entertained and delighted with the Expressions Whirinaki Arts and Entertainment Centre post-parade event. Join Santa after the Upper Hutt Santa Parade for A Hollywood Christmas at Expressions from 3.00 – 6.00 pm. Enter a silverscreen inspired world filled with all the fun of the movies, including live music, Christmas acts, crafts and other yuletide treats and have your photo taken holding your Oscar with Santa.
The Upper Hutt Santa Parade is organised by Upper Hutt City Council, and is promoted by the Upper Hutt Leader.
