Venus Starr presents New Zealand's burlesque red carpet event of the year and along with her cast and crew, welcomes you
to experience two intimate evenings of tasteful cabaret and irresistibly theatrical burlesque entertainment.
Extended over two fabulous nights for the comfort of all guests, Winter Carousel Cabaret runs on Thursday 14th and
Friday 15th July 2016 at San Fran live event venue - 171 Cuba Street, Wellington
Starring international burlesque performers Miss Kelly Ann Doll (RAW Performing artist of the year) and Miss Alyssa Kitt
(Miss Burlesque QLD 2012 & 2014). These powerhouse burlesque stars are accompanied by a dazzling cast of New Zealand's finest and most recognised
burlesque performers - Venus Starr, Lilly Loca, Miss Anthropy, Roxy Paradox, Fanciforia Foxglove, Clever Hansel and your
host PIOTR from Uzbekoslavia.
Venus Starr is an award winning producer and has been creating sell out Carousel shows throughout NZ for the last 6+
years. An accomplished Aerialist, International Tattoo Model and Burlesque feature showgirl in her own right, Venus is
always on the lookout for new talent to add to her lineups of established and well renowned performers.
“ I have loved seeing the growth in the burlesque scene over the past 6+ years” says Venus.
“ Initially, Burlesque was such a shocking and niche concept for people, and now it's become extremely popular and
widely accepted and enjoyed which is fantastic - there are so many quality shows being produced locally now, and so much
more interest in the industry”
Venus has recently opened Venus Starr’s School of Burlesque and is pleased that the renewed popularity in the art of
burlesque is bringing a whole new crop of performers into the scene.
“ I get so much joy from sharing my experience and knowledge with girls just starting out in burlesque - I really love
watching their confidence grow and seeing them challenge themselves to do things they never thought they could!”
Venus’s Advanced Burlesque students will be making their onstage debut at Winter Carousel Cabaret, and Venus says that
while nerves are running high for the girls, she cannot wait to see them shining and performing for their first audience
in a large scale burlesque show.
Venus adds “ Another huge plus of having my own school is that I can provide a space for guest and international
burlesque artists to host workshops and work with local performers to strengthen and grow the industry here. Alyssa Kitt
( one of our Winter Carousel headliners) will be teaching workshops and private one-on-one classes at the studio while
she is here to perform and its so exciting to be able to bring about this opportunity for Wellington.”
