SmartWeek is coming to town
Do you feel like you need to get to grips with digital technology but don’t know where to start? Whether you’re a small business grappling with the cloud or a householder baffled by internet banking - the internet is here to stay and is becoming more and more part of every day life.
SmartWeek is a week of free workshops to answer these questions and more. It runs from 27 June to 3 March at Richmond library, and it’s open to everyone. Put together as part of the new digital action plan supported by both Tasman District and Nelson City Council, as well as the Nelson Regional Development Agency, the NelsonTasman Chamber of Commerce and other organisations, SmartWeek is a new event focused on local needs.
Karen Lee, the regional digital coordinator, says: ‘SmartWeek is planned as an easy to understand programme of workshops to give people ideas, answer questions and show them where to go next. If it’s successful in Richmond then we’ll roll it out in other towns and areas - it’s all about local people helping local people.’
The Richmond SmartWeek is sponsored by Richmond Unlimited and Tasman District Council’s Richmond Library. Brent Cheyne, the Chair of Richmond Unlimited says: ‘This is a very relevant area for local business here in Richmond, so we are really pleased to support SmartWeek - and we’re keen to see as many people get involved as possible. The internet is now part of how we will all do business, it’s up to all of us to get the best we can out of it.’
