Methamphetamine and illegal cash seized in Auckland organised crime operation
Police have seized large amounts of methamphetamine and nearly $400,000 of cash in a major operation into organised crime in Auckland City.
Operation Disruption – which concluded this week – targeted organised crime and related offending with 11 people arrested.
The Operation has netted tens of thousands of dollars of methamphetamine for supply, and a significant amount of other illegal drugs.
One person was found with close to $400,000 in cash
Police are also investigating a large seizure of electronic goods found in the Operation, which are believed to be stolen.
Police seized ammunition for a variety of firearms.
The Operation has resulted in 11 people arrested on a variety of matters, including drug-related and property offences.
Four people have been charged with possession of methamphetamine for supply, and they have all been remanded in custody.
Detective Inspector Kevin Hooper says Operation Disruption is a continuation of Police’s focus on organised crime and drugs.
“We know organised crime and drugs are a driver of crime and cause social and financial harm to communities,” says DI Hooper.
“It’s satisfying when we can help remove harm from the streets.”
Police will continue to target methamphetamine manufacture and dealing as a priority.
