Jack's Point ramp temporarily closed to the public
Jack's Point ramp, located at Patukirikiri Reserve in Coromandel Town has been closed temporarily due to safety concerns around boat launching at the facility.
"The Coromandel Harbour and Boating Association let us know about concerns over people stepping off the end of the ramp and getting stuck in mud and sediment which has built up," says Greg Hampton, Area Manager for Coromandel.
"A temporary barrier is being installed today which will stop anyone launching from Jacks Point ramp. Safety signage is also being printed and will be put up as well," says Mr Hampton.
A report will go to the Coromandel-Colville Community Board's May meeting outlining the issues and options for addressing those concerns," says Mr Hampton. This includes potentially dredging around the ramp as well as looking at costs of extending the ramp."
