Helicopter fuel theft could have claimed lives
Winton police are investigating the theft of jet fuel from Dusky Sound.
Between the dates of 01 June 2014 and 21 July 2015 an unknown person or persons has removed jet fuel from two jerry cans on a barge in Luncheon Cove, Dusky Sound.
This fuel was replaced with water and resulted in a helicopter shutting down whilst on the barge after refuelling.
Had this helicopter shut down whilst in flight the pilot and passengers would have been at substantial risk.
