Activity resource for over-60s re-released in Upper Hutt
Upper Hutt activities for people aged 60+ is a helpful resource provided by the Upper Hutt City Council listing activities for those who are local or new to the area.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 28 JAN 2016---An updated older adults resource was launched by Upper Hutt City Council’s Community Development team this week. The Upper Hutt activities for people aged 60+ resource provides information for those young at heart about a range of things to see and do in Upper Hutt.
The newly updated resource for 2016 is ready to be distributed to the community this month. The Upper Hutt activities for people aged 60+ resource is a free booklet and is aimed at adults aged 60 and over in the community. The booklet contains information on a variety of Upper Hutt groups, clubs, and businesses that provide services and opportunities for older adults in the community. These include social networking groups, music and theatre groups, sports and recreation clubs, hobby groups, volunteer opportunities, and places to visit.
“We are providing this resource for the benefit of our community as a whole,” says Council’s Director of Community Services, Mike Ryan. “Research shows that older adults who remain active and connected in their community maintain greater health and sense of wellbeing. This is not only of benefit to the individuals themselves but also the families and friends that they are connected to.”
Copies of the booklet will be available to the public through senior groups and organisations, the Citizens Advice Bureau, and Upper Hutt City Council public service spaces such as Council reception, Upper Hutt City Library, H2O Xtream aquatic centre, and Expressions Whirinaki Arts and Entertainment Centre. It will also be available in digital format on Upper Hutt City Council’s website, www.upperhuttcity.com.
If you would like more information or copies for your organisation please contact Council’s Community Development Advisor, Tania Wilkinson by emailing tania.wilkinson@uhcc.govt.nz
