Hamilton Police seek information following attack on female pedestrian
Hamilton Police investigating yesterday’s assault on a woman walking to work are seeking the public’s help in identifying her attacker.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson of the Hamilton CIB said Police were called shortly after 6am yesterday in relation to an incident on Hood St between the intersections of Anglesea and Alexandra Streets.
“We’re yet to formally interview the victim but it appears a man dressed in hi-vis orange overalls has assaulted the woman as she was walking to work.
“Detectives are currently reviewing CCTV footage to try and identify the man and we’re hoping someone in the area of the attack between 5.45-6.15am may either have witnessed the attack or recall a person wearing such overalls being in the area.”
Mr Patterson said Police would also like to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, who has information on who the attacker might be or who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles is asked to contact Detective Andrew Hawke at the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200.”
Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with the independent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
