TRASH TO FLASH is happening in North Canterbury
A new activity is launching tonight at the Rangiora Twilight Market. Local artist Shinning Dove has completed 5
sculptures to take centre stage at the new Waimakariri Eco Sculpture garden.
The idea is to involve the community to think outside the square and introduce art into their life by creating a
sculpture using materials that would normally find their way into the landfill.
Shinning Dove has kicked of the event by using old car parts, old fence posts mixing natural materials to create
magnificent art objects. These would grace any garden and become a centre piece statement.
We want to encourage individuals, groups or families to have a go the can even have a bit of fun competing against each
other to come up with the most zany idea and then place it in the Eco Sculpture garden for everyone to enjoy.
It is a wonderful team building exercise for a company something that they can feel proud off. The best part is it isn’t
going to cost a lot of money.
The Rangiora Twilight Market is open every Friday 4.30pm – 7.30pm during day light saving period. It has become a
popular place to go for tea on a Friday night. While eating dinner the buskers entertain and then you can do a bit of
shopping at the market stalls.
Partial funding from Creative community’s fund has enabled this to happen but we need the community now to get involved.
